still waiting…

Nico’s paperwork for his RN registration is being assessed by the SRNA right now and March 22nd he did the Academic IELTS test (official English test) in Utrecht. He’s not too positive about the outcome, for it was difficult and he didn’t have enough time for the writing module. We’re expecting to get the results at the end of this week, so we’re anxiously waiting for that part right now…

Lately I’ve been posting a lot of daily stuff on a very small, private woman-only forum and I’ve realized I hardly post any trivial daily stuff in here, which is a pity. I hardly ever mention what my day was like, who we spent time with or what book I’m reading. I intend to write a bit more often again from now on 😉

in a pic with my heroes Asterix and Obelix!Last week was a pretty fun week. Esp. on Tuesday: my cousin Jos and his girlfriend Hennie came by, they had to get something at a second hand record store here in town, Didi. That was already fun, because I didn’t know about this store and it turned out to be very cool. They had lots of vinyl, CDs (also metal!), also some DVDs, books, cartoons and games. I’ll have to come back there with Nico, and also when we finally go through our CDs and vinyl to see what we can “throw out”. A bonus there were the huge (taller than me) pluche figures of my favorite cartoon heroes Asterix and Obelix in the window 🙂
After that we went to the city, had some coffee and apfelstrudel on a patio (lovely weather!) and did some shopping. I already bought new Ecco shoes for the summer, but this day I also bought a black pair of Converse All Stars (you know, those canvas sneakers), the coolest shoes in the world 😛

Friday Nico let me know he was starting a diet that day. He had been talking about it for a while and was waiting for a good moment, because he likes to fast with juice/water etc only, so that doesn’t mix well with hard physical work. I don’t like to take such drastic measurements, but I love those bars and shakes to replace a meal, so I took the opportunity to join him, but with my own, less strict, diet. I replace some meals, sometimes I take muesli (or rather, cruesli) for breakfast and for dinner usually home-made soup and a bit of salad. Of course I try to take only a few fairly healthy things in between and drink a lot of water and tea. To be honest, I never really wanted to diet again, and I’ve managed to stay on the same weight for years (even though 122 kg is still way too much), but since the holidays I was 124 and I don’t want those extra pounds to stay! Wish us luck (I’m already at 123, ha!)

I had been going to bed a bit too late on a couple of nights at the end of the week, and unfortunately a migraine snuck up on me on Saturday morning. Damn, I was sick all weekend. Just my luck, Nico was off and the weather would’ve been nice (sunny, 16C) for some gardening or something. I was sure I should call in sick this morning, and I set my alarm clock one hour later than usual, at 8. I woke up at 7.30 and felt good… I thought, well I’ll just get up and see how it goes. I still have a sort of hangover, but the actual migraine is gone, so I have been working as usual 🙂
