We’ve been silent, but only because we’ve been busy with the house! We’ve got someone in there now for patching up and painting the ceilings and walls (I will paint the kitchen cabinets and smaller stuff). Boyd turned out to be an awesome guy and we get along great. He’s also going to help us out with some smaller jobs in a few weeks. Next week Wednesday a company comes in to refinish the hardwood floors. They don’t traditionally sand the floors, but use a solution instead that only screens the floor (takes old finish off). Seen mixed reviews online, so let’s hope it makes at least the worn down patches a bit better and makes the difference by the bedrooms disappear (floor has been sanded before but not in the bedrooms). If all goes well, we can move in on Thursday!! (pleeeaaase keep your fingers crossed that all goes well!)
Despite all the work, we managed to visit a few pavilions of the Mosaic festival. It’s a great multicultural festival with pavilions throughout the city for about 15 or so nationalities, with lots of traditional food and drinks, and entertainment (dance groups mainly). Yesterday we visited the Ethiopian and Caribbean ones close to us, today we visited the Greek (great food!!), Ukrainian (spectacular dancers!) and Philippine ones. Hopefully we have more time next year!
