She gracefully tolerated my cats moving in and we called her the queen-mother of the tribe. She lived to be 17.5!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/20021221_lars.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2150\" style=\"margin: 0 50px 0 50px;\" title=\"Lars\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/20021221_lars.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lars 1984 &#8211; 2004<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lars (a female despite the name \ud83d\ude09 &#8211; named after drummer Lars Ulrich of the then new band Metallica) was my &#8216;first born&#8217; and had always been the apple of my eye. Even though she was always reserved and shy,\u00a0she&#8217;d get really sweet once she got to know you! I was so lucky to have Larsje with me for almost 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1989stevie.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2154\" style=\"margin: 0 50px 0 50px;\" title=\"Stevie\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1989stevie.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1989stevie.jpg 640w, https:\/\/wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1989stevie-300x195.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Stevie 1985 &#8211; 1989<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stevie (named after Satan guitarist Steve Ramsey) was a sweet and talkative kitty.<br \/>\nUnfortunately she got hit by a car when I was living near busy streets when she was only three!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/2004yard230504_15.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2148\" style=\"margin: 0 50px 10px 50px;\" title=\"Robin\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/2004yard230504_15.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/2004yard230504_15.jpg 640w, https:\/\/wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/2004yard230504_15-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Robin 1991 &#8211; 2006<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I (Marlies) got Robin (Hood II) when he was only five weeks old, so he still had to be bottle-fed. He grew up to be big and strong, and when I got together with Nico, he soon got a special bond with him. Since 2005 he had diabetes and we had to give him insulin shots twice a day. One day he likely was in an accident, he was in pain and half paralyzed. Treatments didn&#8217;t help and we couldn&#8217;t bare the suffering, we had him put to sleep the next morning after 14 good and loving years \ud83d\ude25<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1993whistler.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2156\" style=\"margin: 0 50px 20px 50px;\" title=\"Whistler\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1993whistler.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1993whistler.jpg 640w, https:\/\/wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1993whistler-300x204.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Whistler 1992 &#8211; 2000<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I took Whistler (named after the Dutch band Whistler-Courbois-Whistler) in when she was 3-4 months, from a friend whose baby was allergic. She was the easiest cat, you could do anything with her. She had kittens twice and lived to be only eight. We thought she had asthma but she didn&#8217;t respond to treatment and was slowly choking. The vet sent us all the way to specialists at the university of Utrecht where they found cancer, so we had to put Whisje down right then and there \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1994whistler_skinnie2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2157\" style=\"margin: 0 50px 0 50px;\" title=\"Skinnie (with mom Whistler)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1994whistler_skinnie2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"113\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Skinnie 1994 &#8211; 1998<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Skinnie was Whistler&#8217;s first son (no other kittens survived after birth) and when he was old enough, we gave him to our neighbours whose cat fathered him, but had disappeared since (they also named the kitty). Unfortunately Skinnie also disappeared some years later and was expected to have become a traffic victim.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1995flynn.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2158\" style=\"margin: 0 50px 0 50px;\" title=\"Flynn\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wobben.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1995flynn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"111\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Flynn 1995 &#8211; 1996<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Flynn (named after Machine Head guitarist and singer Robb Flynn) was quite an extraordinary cat.
